The winner of this SONG TITLE contest is Rhonda, from Portland with her title "Surrender to the Great Mystery" The Song will be featured on the KOLOB CANYON CD that will be released in February 2008 and you can purchase a copy for your own listening pleasure below. I had so many good song ideas submitted and it was hard for me to choose, so we passed around all the entries to my group of music nuts and came up with Rhonda's song title as being the most fitting. However, 4 other submission may be used on the new album as each title spurned off even more song ideas for me. For the Kolob Canyon CD, I'm going attempt to create music around each song title entry that was turned in. This will make the new album not just my creation, but that of my listeners as well. Thank you for your ideas and creativity! Marc was born in the Western US, where he spent spent most of his youth involved in Scouting and Church activities, this included getting out into nature by any means he could. His hundreds of outings included gold prospecting, camping, boating, hunting and fishing with his family and of course his scout troop. When time and energies let him, Marc still spends his days going on short trips to cool and unique places, including ghost towns and even into mines and caves. Sometimes crazily dangerous, Marc and his caving buddies like the challenge. The places he has visited and the adventures he has been in are the catalyst for most of his musical inspirations.
He attributes most of the inspiration for his music to places he has actually visited. Marc says that each special place 'sings a song' to him and each place carries its own spiritual message and special song.
While he doesn't get out into the wild as much anymore, Marc has traveled to and hiked, biked and driven around many states and also a few countries. The place he calls home now is the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Marc tells us that almost all of his musical songs come to him during or shortly after his visits to a new region, city or area. Often times he feels compelled to compose instrumental songs that bring out the spirit of each place he visits.
Marc currently resides in Portland, Oregon with his wonderful partner of 12 years. He spends his time writing and producing instrumental, ambient, new age style musical soundscapes.
Marc has been working on a spiritual book entitled a 'Angels of Coincidence' which are true stories and compilations of his personal writings about self discovery and insights into our true purpose on earth. Angels of Coincidence is still being completed at this time and Marc has started the process of finding a publisher to accept his book without compromising the title, length or spirit of the books message.
How he does his sound magic happen? Marc uses multiple synthesizer instruments, live Instruments and creative computer generated loops and sounds, all combine into a beautiful, ambient soundtrack of light & energetic waveforms!
